Archive for 15. January 2008Why not Advertise on Sports Gear? thanks HD!15. January 2008 by bryan.lonn.
Last Saturday a number of my friends and family got together to watch our loyal Seahawks beat those pesky Packers. But we ended up losing to the Green Bay Packers 42-20. Being loyal Washington fans we all were hurt, just a little. But the real fun that day was watching it on a 70 inch Plasma with the HD works (HDMI baby!). Stepping back a bit, I remember after an episode of Entourage Ari Gold tells his wife, “she cant be a soap-opera actress anymore because we’re in HD-land now and her wrinkles can be exposed.” I honestly think Mr. Gold is on to something. After seeing the game in HD you can even make out the name on the football by who produced it. I turned to a soccer game and can see all the writing on the soccer ball and even a baseball game to see the beauty of red lines in the while ball. Talking to my friends and family about Advertising on such a small piece of gear, they got frustrated because the brand would always be in their head after a game. Isn’t that the point of Advertising, to get brands stuck in us? Imagine Pepsi baseballs, Intel footballs and even Taco Bell golf clubs (Probably not the right market for fast food). But the brands and even colors would stick becasue our eye is always focused on the action of the game and the gear is right in the thick-of-it. So compaines better thank High Definition because it gives agencies a few more non-traditional tactics! Posted in Advertising - Good Idea | No Comments »
